If you have been scared of last year's IT and its terrifying clown, Pennywise, there is another horror entity arriving to scare the bejeezus out of you! Sony Pictures Entertainment is bringing out Slender Man, an upcoming horror movie. The titular character is based on a notorious creepypasta meme that had gone viral. Slender Man is a tall, slender faceless entity wearing a black suit with stories of him slaking, abducting and killing people, especially kids, making the rounds on the internet.
So based on these fictional legends, the movie will have Slender Man terrorise a small town in Massachusetts, especially a bunch of teenagers. The first trailer of the film has arrived and it delivers an atmospheric horror that does live up to the hype of the internet-made icon. We do end up having the IT feels, but these are early days and we do hope that Slender Man stands apart from the movie where clown eats kids.
Here's the trailer for Slender Man -
The movie, directed by Sylvain White (Stomp The Yard), stars Joey King, Julia Goldani Telles, Jaz Sinclair, Annalise Basso and Taylor Richardson. Spanish actor Javier Botet plays Slender Man in the movie. Here's the official synopsis - "In a small town in Massachusetts, a group of friends perform a ritual in an attempt to debunk the lore of SLENDER MAN. When one of them goes mysteriously missing, they begin to suspect that she is, in fact, HIS latest victim."
Slender Man is releasing on August 10
