Thailand's indie band Thotsakan’s members, female singer Breeze, drummer Bew and keyboardist Kwang, were among 30 killed in a deadly fire that blazed through the Rong Beer Na Lat Phrao bar in Chatuchak district, Bangkok. The band's male lead singer Tik Chaichana escaped, and was inconsolable after his bandmates and girlfriend died in the blaze.

Thotsakan's male lead singer Tik Chaichana escaped from the fire, as he went to the washroom. Tik’s video rushing out of the burning bar has gone viral. "I'm safe, thank you everyone for your concern. But my phone and all my belongings burned... My mind is truly not okay right now," Tik wrote in a Facebook post, as per the BBC. What Happened in the Bangkok Fire Incident?
According to the BBC, the Thai indie band Thotsakan was performing at the bar when their manager Ice Athipat Wijarn saw smoke emerging from behind the Kwang. Upon seeing the flames, Kwang shouted for people to leave the venue. Unfortunately, Kwang, Breeze and Bew died after succumbing to their injuries, as confirmed by a Facebook post from another band member, Patchara Songphatkaew. Another band member, Din, was missing but reportedly found later. However, his condition is not known.
Who Was Thai Singer Breeze?
According the Vietnam.vn website, Breeze's real name was Nahathai Satjalert and she hailed from the Roi Et province. She was the female lead singer of the band and also the girlfriend of the band leader. Breeze was talented from childhood and participated singing competitions from school, winning awards. She had a tough childhood, being raised by her aunt after her parents divorced. Since her early days, she began performing at karaoke bars and restaurants in Bangkok professionally. When the fire started at the Bangkok bar, Breeze was reportedly interacting with audiences, as the other singer performed.
Thailand Actresses Pay Tribute After Bangkok Fire
Thailand actresses Faye Peraya Malisorn and Atom Pariya Piyapanopas paid tribute to the victims of the Bangkok fire incident, and offered moral support to the injured and the first responders. Faye Peraya’s company Fabel Entertainment posted a tribute on social media, with the caption translated from Thai reading: “We express our deepest condolences regarding the fire at the entertainment venue in the Ladprao area. The company mourns the loss of life and sends its heartfelt support to the families of the deceased and those injured. We also offer our encouragement to the rescue workers, medical personnel, firefighters, and all personnel from every sector who are working tirelessly to provide assistance and manage the situation. We stand with all involved in overcoming this difficult time together.”

The blaze is said to be the city’s deadliest in 17 years, as per the Associated Press, injuring at least 73 people, with several in critical condition. Kittharath Punpetch, National Police Chief, informed that the deceased were found trapped in bathrooms that had no windows. The fire itself, as seen in online videos, seems more like a blaze gun.

According to AP, Thailand Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul said that a musician performing at the bar on the day told him he saw smoke coming out of a circuit breaker near the stage. An explosion occurred, which may have caused the inferno. Thick smoke filled the place, suffocating at least 30 to death. Investigation is on to know the cause of the fire.
