So finally we will get a proper glimpse of the visual marvel of what is Indian Cinema's most anticipated movie of the year - 2.0. Well, we did see a boot-legged, leaked teaser that had unfinished special effects and was an utter disappointment, of course. 2.0, directed by Shankar and starring Rajinikanth and Akshay Kumar in the lead, is called the most expensive film in India. It has been in the making for some time, even though the actors had completed the shoot more than a year ago, and the makers even had a grand Audio launch last year. Finally! Akshay Kumar and Rajinikanths 2.0 Teaser Releases On September 13!
The first teaser of the film will arrive on September 13, and we are pretty much excited about this. And if you are as excited about the teaser like us and want to know more about the film, we have a little brief here for you on what all you need to know about 2.0. Rajinikanth-Akshay Kumar’s 2.0 Making Video LEAKED: Watch Thalaiva and Amy Jackson Working Behind The Scenes for The Mega Movie
It will be a sequel to the 2010 movie, Robot/Enthiran, that starred Rajinikanth in a double role and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in the lead. While Aishwarya is not in the sequel, Rajinikanth reprises his double role of scientist Vaseegaran and his rogue robot Chitti in the film. It is touted as the most expensive film made in India and will be released in multiple languages.
S Shankar, the man with an eye for expansive budget and visual flair, is returning to direct the sequel. He has previously helmed blockbusters like Gentleman, Mudhalvan, Indian, I, Nanban and others. The film is produced by Lyca Productions, while Karan Johar's Dharma Productions will present the film.
Apart from Rajinikanth, the movie also stars Akshay Kumar as the man antagonist. His crow-like appearance in the stills and posters has created much curiosity among fans. This would be his South debut. Amy Jackson is the female lead in the female. There are speculations that she will also be playing a robot in 2.0. The film also stars Adil Hussain, Sudhanshu Pandey and Kalabhavan Shajohn.
AR Rahman is scoring the music for the film, being a nearly-frequent collaborator for Shankar. The songs from the film are already out, and they have created quite a buzz for the film, especially the track Mechanical Sundari.
2.0 was touted to have a budget of a stupendous Rs 400 crore. However, with the delays, it could have ballooned over and above that. Whatever the figure is, there is no doubt that it would be India's most expensive film, beating the Baahubali series.
If everything had gone by the plan, 2.0 would have come out last year itself. But the extensive post-production work, especially on the VFX, saw the film change its release date from Diwali 2017 to January this year to April 2018 before being pushed to the fag end of the year. There have been reports that the VFX company that first handled the special effects went bankrupt and they had to hire another company.
The release date
2.0 is confirmed to release on November 29 this year. It was to be clashing with Sushant Singh Rajput and Sara Ali Khan's Kedarnath. However, as per some reports, Kedarnath might be pushed ahead to avoid a clash with 2.0. Sensible!
