SS Rajamouli's epic saga, Baahubali 2, has released in China on Friday, i.e. on May 4. Baahubali 2 is already India's highest grossing movie at the domestic box office and is the first Indian movie to gross more than Rs 1000 crore worldwide. The release in China will give the opportunity for Baahubali 2 to become highest grossing Indian movie worldwide, beating Dangal (who also had China to thank for its fabulous box office collection) for the top position.

On day 1, Baahubali 2 opens on the third position at the box office in China. As per trade analyst Taran Adarsh, the movie has grossed $2.43 million on opening day, which amounts to Rs 16.24 crore. With these earning, Baahubali 2 has managed to beat the opening day collections of Salman Khan's Bajrangi Bhaijaan but fails to beat Aamir Khan's Secret Superstar and Irrfan Khan's Hindi Medium's first-day figures.

Here's what Adarsh had tweeted, "#Baahubali2 opens VERY WELL in CHINA... Debuts at No 3 position... Opening day numbers are lower than #SecretSuperstar and #HindiMedium, but higher than #BajrangiBhaijaan [all 2018 releases in China]... Fri $ 2.43 mn [₹ 16.24 cr]

Shows: 51,494 Footfalls: 484,276".

It remains to be seen ahead if China will offer the same love to Baahubali 2 as they did with Dangal and Secret Superstar. While the Indian movies that had found love in China were all social drama, Baahubali 2 belongs to fantasy action genre.

Baahubali 2, which was released in India in 2017, stars Prabhas, Anushka Shetty, Rana Daggubati, Tammanaah Bhatia, Ramya Krishnan, Nasser and Sathyaraj.
