Baahubali franchise is, of course, considered as the biggest film franchise India has ever made both in terms of the budget and the box office returns. The SS Rajamouli epic two-parter is a milestone in Indian cinema and made its cast, including Prabhas, Anushka Shetty and Rana Daggubati, national superstars. Baahubali 2 is also considered as the highest grossing Indian movie ever as per domestic box office collections.

Now we hear that the franchise is getting a prequel, which won't be a movie but a web-series of three seasons for an online streaming service. It will be based on the book, Rise of Sivagami, that has been written by Anand Neelakanthan. However, as per a report in DNA, it will not be SS Rajamouli who alone would be directing the prequel, as he did with much success with the film franchise.

Instead, it would be Prasthaanam director Deva Katta, who would be co-directing the series. Speaking to DNA, Katta revealed, "The Baahubali series made a huge impact with its unique storytelling. This prequel promises to amp up the excitement of Baahubali fans. I’m honoured to be a part of this project and work with Rajamouli sir.”

Currently, the director is shooting for the Bollywood remake of his biggest hit. The movie stars Sanjay Dutt and Manisha Koirala in the lead.
