Apart from being a popular actor and a terrific dancer, Thalapathy Vijay is not new to doing playback singing He has crooned songs for his movie as recently as the 2017 film Bairavaa ("Papaa Papaa"). In fact, as per reports, he is only next to Kamal Haasan as an actor to have done playback singing for the maximum number of songs. The one thing he hasn't done yet is not having crooned a song for AR Rahman. That issue is now solved with the upcoming film, BigilBigil: Shah Rukh Khan and Vijay Are NOT Coming Together For The Atlee Directorial.

AR Rahman has composed the score for a couple of Thalapathy's recent films like Mersal and Sarkar, and continues to do the same with Bigil. Now it has been confirmed by a tweet from Archana Kalapathi, who is the creative producer of Bigil. In her tweet, she also gave the details of the song that Vijay will sing for the Oscar-winning music composer which is "Verithanam". She wrote, "A big thank you to our #Thalapathy from all of us (His fans) for granting our request to sing in this album Trust me the song is #Verithanam Thank you @arrahman Sir, @Atlee_dir @Lyricist_Vivek for making this happen @SonyMusicSouth #Bigil".

We are really curious to see how Vijay will flourish as a singer under the masterful ear of AR Rahman.

Atlee, who had directed Vijay in two blockbusters, Theri and Mersal, is directing Bigil. Vijay is playing a double role in the film, that of a fish-seller father and his football-loving son. Nayanthara is the female lead in the movie, while Jackie Shroff has an important role in the film. There have been reports that Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan might have a cameo in Bigil, which Atlee's team has denied.
