About ‘Jana Nayagan’
Jana Nayagan holds significant importance as it marks Vijay's 69th and final film appearance before he transitions completely into politics, having assumed office as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu on May 10, 2026. The film, which was initially announced under the tentative title Thalapathy 69 in September 2024, received its official title in January 2025. The theatrical version has undergone significant modifications, including a title card that now identifies Vijay as the "Honourable Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu."
Directed by H. Vinoth and produced by Venkat K Narayana under KVN Productions, Jana Nayagan is a Tamil-language political action thriller. It is a partial remake of the 2023 Telugu film Bhagavanth Kesari. The film's journey to the screens was not without hurdles, experiencing delays due to procedural issues with the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) and an online leak in April 2026. The movie also features Bobby Deol, Pooja Hegde, Mamitha Baiju, Priyamani and Prakash Raj among others in key roles.
