Karan Johar’s Koffee With Karan season 6 has gotten a makeover not just in terms of the sets, look, a few new gadgets and more fancy gifts apart from the coveted hamper. But that’s not all, the show’s content too has been revamped. From being the frivolous discussions about affairs, exes and date nights the tête-à-tête now revolves around #MeToo and topics such as pay gap. After discussing at length with Aamir Khan about the Me Too India movement and wrongly crediting the Thugs Of Hindostan actor over the sexual assault victims who spoke up like brave hearts, recently the filmmaker-turned-chat show host discussed the pay gap issue. In last weekend’s episode of KWK 6 with Varun Dhawan and Katrina Kaif. The Bharat actress broached the subject and insisted that her to-be co-star ensure that she gets paid handsomely for their film together.

What started as a fun conversation where Varun talked about making an appearance with Kat on the Koffee couch for early promotions of their upcoming movie. Karan Johar teased Katrina and asked her if she’d like to date Varun, now that she’s single. Varun hit back at his mentor and jumped straight to the point – the real reason why he was on the show in the first place. The actress teased her co-star and said how he champions the cause of pay equality in Bollywood. Karan chimed when Katrina announced, “Varun believes a lot in pay equality. He’s a big supporter.”

Dhawan Jr joined the actress and revealed how he had asked Katrina to charge a lot of crores. Katrina took this opportunity and made Karan the witness of their conversation. VD continued with utmost honesty and insisted that the actress should do her bit and ask for a price that she believes is apt. Karan was however skeptical and agreed with Katrina that she might not get paid as much as Varun for their film, he said, “I really doubt.”

Varun Dhawan concluded the matter with a true star like statement and said, “If she (Katrina) doesn’t get the price, I won’t do the film.” This is not the first time that Varun has opened up about the differential treatment meted out to actresses. During Sui Dhaaga promotions the actor had revealed how hen kept asking Alia Bhatt to increase her pay after delivering back-to-back hits. He also stood like a strong pillar of support with Anushka Sharma when she addressed the pay disparity problem of Bollywood. With this attitude, Varun Dhawan will for sure turn a real life hero for his heroines.
