Summers have not even approached in full swing and water crisis problems have started surfacing from places across India. Chandigarh is also going through a  water crisis period and yesterday being the first day of it,  38 water tankers were pressed into service across the city.

Reportedly, the Municipal Corporation had issued an alert that due to the repair of a pipeline in Phase-III near Pakki Rurki village in Punjab, there will be no pumping of raw water from phases III and IV of Kajauli Waterworks to Sector 39, Chandigarh. This will also affect the water supply from March 22 to 24. According to Municipal Corporation official, they want to get over the repair work before the onset of the summer so that resident don't face problem. Reports highlight that the machinery is quite old and it requires frequent repair.

The worst affected were residents of sectors 22, 23,24,25, Dhanas, southern belt, that is sectors 39, 40, 41, 42, Buterla village, Attawa, 43, 44, 47, 48 to 51. Those on the upper floors faced low water pressure. According to a previous report, earlier this month as well, water supply in several parts in Chandigarh remain affected due to repair work. Several tankers were pressed into service as the water situation looked extremely grim. Hoping that the water issue gets solved quickly and people in Chandigarh can breathe a sigh of relief in this scorching heat.
