Delhi Man Arrested in Uttar Pradesh for Murder of Wife Using Scissors
A 52-year-old Delhi man has been arrested in Moradabad for the fatal stabbing of his 45-year-old wife with scissors. Following a domestic dispute over suspected infidelity, the accused fled the scene and was tracked by police across multiple cities before his apprehension on Sunday.
Delhi Police have arrested a 52-year-old man, identified as Saleem, in connection with the brutal murder of his 45-year-old wife in the Gautampuri area of Seelampur. The suspect was apprehended near the Moradabad Railway Station in Uttar Pradesh on Sunday following an intensive search operation led by local investigators.
As per a report by NDTV, the incident came to light on Thursday when police were alerted to the crime scene, where the victim was discovered with fatal injuries. Medical staff at JPC Hospital subsequently declared the woman dead upon arrival. Forensic experts have since collected evidence, including the pair of scissors allegedly used in the attack and blood-stained clothing. Motive Behind the Incident
Following his arrest, the accused confessed to the killing during police interrogation. He alleged that his wife, who had previously worked in a garment factory, was involved in an illicit relationship with a co-worker. According to the suspect, this recurring suspicion had been a frequent cause of domestic disputes and heated arguments between the couple.
The police investigation revealed that the murder occurred following a particularly intense confrontation. After allegedly assaulting his wife with scissors, the accused locked the house and fled the scene. He reportedly attempted to evade authorities by travelling through various locations, including Anand Vihar, Rampur, Bareilly, Shahjahanpur, and Lucknow, before being tracked to Moradabad. Investigation and Legal Action
To trace the suspect, police analysed CCTV footage from multiple locations and utilised technical surveillance alongside human intelligence. The accused has been charged under section 103(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The police continue to process the evidence gathered from the crime scene to formalise the case for the upcoming legal proceedings.
