Avni Kejriwal, a student of Delhi Public School (DPS), Ranchi, has emerged as the all-India national topper in the commerce stream for the CBSE Class 12 board examinations. The distinction follows the Central Board of Secondary Education's declaration of post-result re-evaluation outcomes. Kejriwal achieved a flawless 100 per cent score, securing a perfect 500 out of 500 marks after her initial answer scripts underwent a formal review process.

Discrepancy Leads to Re-Evaluation Request

When the baseline CBSE Class 12 results were initially published in May, Kejriwal recorded perfect scores of 100 in Accountancy, Economics, and Applied Mathematics. However, her scorecard reflected an 81 in English and a 95 in Business Studies, lowering her cumulative aggregate to 95.2 per cent. CBSE Class 12 Re-Evaluation 2026: Why You Must Surrender Your Old Marksheet.

Dissatisfied with the initial grading and confident in her performance, she formally applied for verification and subsequent re-evaluation under the board's designated window. "English has always been my strongest suit and my favourite subject. I simply could not accept such a low score. For Business Studies, I cross-checked my responses with the model answer key published by the CBSE and found no reason for any deduction. That is when I decided to apply for a re-evaluation," Kejriwal said.

The resulting re-evaluation process rectified the discrepancies, upgrading both her English and Business Studies scores to perfect 100s, elevating her to the top academic position in the country for the commerce stream.

Academic Consistency Over Rigid Schedules

Reflecting on her study methodology, Kejriwal emphasised that her academic strategy focused entirely on qualitative benchmarks rather than rigid timeline tracking. She maintained that maintaining an active social balance was critical to managing examination pressures. "I focused on completing the syllabus rather than counting the hours. I maintained a healthy balance between academics and leisure and never believed in isolating myself with books. I continued hanging out with my friends, but in moderation. The definitive key is consistency and smart time management," Kejriwal shared.

Speaking to news agency ANI, Avni Kejriwal said, "Everyone is very happy right now. We weren't expecting 500 marks, but everyone is very happy. I had 19 marks deducted in English, which I wasn't expecting. English is my favourite subject and was my strongest one. That's why I applied for re-evaluation. There were also 5 marks deducted in Business Studies. I had already gotten 100/100 in 3 subjects. Now my score has increased by 24 marks."

Institutional Recognition and Future Aspirations

The daughter of Ranchi-based businessman Mitesh Kejriwal and homemaker Poonam Kejriwal, the national topper plans to establish a professional career in corporate management and finance. She is currently evaluating premier undergraduate options located across educational hubs in Delhi and Bengaluru to chart her next steps. Jaya Chauhan, the principal of DPS Ranchi, lauded the milestone and extended congratulations to Kejriwal, her family, and the teaching faculty. CBSE Begins Phased Release of Class 12 Verification and Re-Evaluation Results; 87% Outcomes Declared.
