Noida, May 8: Vinayaka Sreedhar, a student of Amity International School in Noida, scored nearly 100 in three subjects he appeared during the CBSE Class 10 examination for which the results were announced on May 6, Monday. He died in March before he could write the remaining two exams. Sreedhar, who idolised theoretical Stephen Hawking, was diagnosed with muscular dystrophy when he was just two-years-old. Duchenne muscular dystrophy, also known as DMD, is a genetic disorder of progressive muscle degeneration and weakness. It is caused due to the absence of dystrophin, a vital protein that helps keep muscle cells intact. Topping the CBSE board exams and becoming an astronaut were among the unfulfilled wished of Sreedhar. Due to his medical condition, he used a writer for English and Science papers. But for Sanskrit, Sreedhar insisted on writing it himself despite his body movement was restricted and he was wheelchair-bound.

Sreedhar, however, is not the only one to make his family proud. His sister is an IISc (Indian Institute of Science) alumnus and currently pursuing her PhD at the University of British Columbia. While his father is vice-president in the GMR group, his mother is a housewife by choice.
