All schools, colleges and anganwadis in Maharashtra's Thane district will remain closed on Tuesday, July 7, after the district administration ordered the shutdown as a precaution against forecast heavy to extremely heavy rainfall.

The order was issued on Monday by District Collector and Chairman of the District Disaster Management Authority, Dr. Shrikant Panchal, following the India Meteorological Department's (IMD) latest weather forecast for the region.

The administration said the decision was taken to ensure the safety of students, teachers and staff as heavy rainfall and strong winds are expected across the district.

The IMD has forecast heavy to extremely heavy rainfall in Thane on Tuesday, with adverse weather conditions expected to continue over the next few days.

Administration Urges Residents to Stay Cautious

The district administration has advised residents to follow official weather advisories and avoid unnecessary travel during periods of intense rainfall.

The order has been issued under the provisions of the Disaster Management Act, 2005, and came into effect immediately.
