Gaya, June 14: In another incident of brutality from Bihar’s Gaya district, 20 men have been detained by the Bihar police in connection with the gangrape of a mother and daughter. According to a report by NDTV, the police informed that the accused had tied the man to a tree and then raped his wife and daughter at gunpoint.

The incident took place in Gaya’s Guraru Bazar on Wednesday around 8 PM when a local doctor in was on his way home with his wife and daughter. The family was going home after the doctor closed his clinic. During the investigation, it was also known that the same group snatched mobile phones and cash from a couple of students passing through the village.

Reports inform that a group of 20 men surrounded them when they passed on a deserted stretch. In his statement to the Police, the man informed that when the men assaulted his wife and daughter, he fought back but was brutally thrashed.

As the man kept trying to do his best to save his wife and daughter, the men tied the doctor to a tree and gang-raped his wife and 12-year-old daughter. Later, the woman managed to identify two of the 20 detained people. Local villagers reportedly helped the police catch the culprits by putting roadblocks.

Soon after the incident was reported by locals, the police swung into action in no time. Reports inform that the officer-in-charge at Konch police station was suspended for negligence.

Nayyer Hasnain Khan, Inspector General of Police, Central Zone was quoted in the reports saying that the three were passing through Sondiha on a motorcycle when they were waylaid by youths carrying firearms. The Inspector further informed that the group of men raped the mother and the daughter after tying the father to a tree.
