An earthquake has hit parts of North India and Pakistan on Tuesday. The tremors were left around 4:35 pm in the regions. People in New Delhi, Kashmir, Chandigarh, Islamabad, Lahore and Khyber Pakhtun region said that they experienced tremors. According to reports, the earthquake's epicentre is around Pakistan-occupied-Kashmir. The magnitude of the earthquake has been measured at 6.1 on the Richter Scale. If you are inside during an earthquake, quickly take cover. As most casualties are caused due to objects falling from the top, it is advisable to cover your head.   • If you are in a room, take cover beneath a table and stay there until the shaking stops.

  • If you are in your bed, hold on and don't move. Stay away from windows and other objects that have the potential to root away.
  • Do not use elevators during an earthquake as the wires may come off at any moment.
  • If you are in an open area drop to the ground and stay away from power lines.
  • If you are driving, stop and stay away from bridges, water bodies and other vehicles.

ANI reported, "European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC): Earthquake of magnitude 6.1 at Richter scale strikes 173 km North-West of Lahore, Pakistan." In the recent earthquake, no loss to life and property has been reported yet. Meanwhile, people have taken to the internet with their experiences, advising others to stay safe. Earlier this month, Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh were hit by earthquakes.
