New Delhi, Apr 2: The Indian Railways is reportedly planning to launch over 200 applications to further enhance operation. The apps will address the concerns of all stakeholders, including employees and travellers.

The applications, which are currently in developmental stage, will also allow citizens to track various construction activities of the Railways, including the footover bridges, underpasses and upgradation of Railway stations, along with the installation of Wifi service.

The status of unmanned railway crossings could also be tracked through these apps.

In the near future, the following three apps are set to be released: Rail MADAD, Menu on Rails and IR SUGAM.

Rail MADAD will allow passengers to seek early addressal to their grievances related to the quality of service provided by the Railways.

Menu on Rails will provide users with information on the types of food available on different trains along with their rates.

The IR SUGAM app will cater to the business community as it would provide information related to rail freight transport.

The Railways is also planning to launch an app for the employees, which will provide information related to their salaries, perks, allowances, pending leaves and other benefits.

Railways Minister Piyush Goyal said the new apps will provide a boost to grievance redressal mechanism, apart from improving the service and user-experience.
