Mumbai, July 21: Relatives of a patient, who died at Cooper Hospital in Mumbai where he was admitted for treatment, created ruckus at the hospital on Sunday. Patient’s family alleged that he was administered an injection after which he died. In the video, relatives of the patient could be seen harassing and abusing the medical staff of the hospital. However, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) rejected the allegation by the relatives of the patient and termed it as unfortunate. According to the civic body, the deceased had symptoms of pneumonia, and the cause of death was registered as pneumonia and suspected COVID. Sena Leader Nitin Nandgaonkar Creates Ruckus at Hiranandani Hospital over Release of COVID-19 Victim's Body.

The civic body said, “Symptoms of pneumonia and COVID are similar, cause of death was registered as pneumonia and suspected COVID. As per ICMR protocol, his body was handed over to police, but the family got agitated.”. The BMC stated that hospital management did what was prescribed under ICMR guidelines, and the patient was immediately admitted and was given the required treatment. “So this is not true that there was some carelessness by the hospital,” the BMC added.
