New Delhi, March 31: As the deadline  to link the Permanent Account Number or PAN with Aadhaar card near its conclusion on Sunday, the government issued an order, extending the last date for completing the process by another six months. PAN holders who are yet to link their accounts with the UIDAI number can now do the same by September 30, 2019.

As per the statement issued by the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT), quoting the Aadhaar number will be mandatory for furnishing income tax returns (ITRs) from April 1. How to Link Aadhaar Card to PAN Card in Easy Steps

Here is What the CBDT Said:

This is the sixth time the government has extended the deadline for individuals to link their PAN to Aadhaar. In June last year, the government had said that PAN has to be linked with the biometric ID by March 31.

"....now the cut-off date for intimating the Aadhaar number and linking PAN with Aadhaar is September 30, 2019, unless specifically exempted," the CBDT statement added.

The CBDT further said that there were reports that those PANs which are not linked with Aadhaar number by March 31 may be invalidated, following which the matter was considered by the government and it was decided to extend the date till September 30.
