Amritsar, August 14: People in large numbers gathered at Attari-Wagah border on Wednesday evening to witness the Beating Retreat Ceremony live. The lowering of the flag ceremony at the Attari-Wagah border is a daily practice but it was special as the Independence Day was just a day away. The Border Security Force (BSF) received massive support with cheers once the Beating Retreat Ceremony started. Patriotic chants, including 'Bharat Mata ki Jai', was sounded across the border.

Meanwhile, no sweets were exchanged between BSF and Pakistani forces on Eid as well as Pakistan Independence Day as tensions between the two countries are high following the revocation of Article 370 from Jammu and Kashmir.
