Mumbai, August 28: The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has decided to keep all its gardens open till 10 PM. According to the order passed by the civic body, the gardens will be kept open from 6 am to 10 pm. Earlier the gardens used to be closed at noon due to maintenance work, but now it will remain open, according to a Times of India report. Keeping gardens open throughout the day will further ensure an increase in sporting activities and people using them for their leisure.

In other news, BMC is all set to introduce on-street paid parking. The project designed by Mumbai Parking Authority (MPA) will be implemented from August 29, 2019. The plan will include two stretches of arterial roads and three areas on a pilot basis. BMC To Implement On-Street Paid Parking from August 30 on Five City Stretches in Mumbai.

Once the plan gets implemented, people will have the option to park their vehicles in the public parking lots or at pay-and-park slots on some roads, as reported in Mid Day. Recently, BMC was slammed for its plan to hire social media experts for Rs 6 crore. The Opposition members in BMC's standing Committee have further asked why a private individual who works in the Chief Minister's office on a fellowship programme, was hired.
