Constable Deepak Bangar, posted with the Foreigners Cell in the Northwest district, had been deployed at a five-star hotel in Central Delhi where foreign delegates attending the BRICS Summit were staying.
Bangar was assigned sniper duty on the hotel terrace when two videos posted from his Instagram account came to the notice of senior police officials.

In another video, he is seen looking through the scope of a sniper rifle from the hotel terrace, with nearby VVIP structures visible in the background.
The videos were reportedly uploaded from Bangar's Instagram account, @jaat.bangar.0143. The account has since been blocked.

Delhi Police Suspends Constable, Orders Departmental Inquiry
Delhi Police subsequently removed Bangar from BRICS security duty and suspended him with immediate effect. He was also sent back to his home district.
A senior police officer said that the department had taken serious note of the disciplinary lapse and ordered a departmental inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the recording and uploading of the videos.
“Taking serious note of the disciplinary lapse, he was taken off BRICS duty and suspended with immediate effect. A departmental inquiry has been ordered to establish the circumstances in which the videos were recorded and uploaded. Further disciplinary proceedings will be initiated as per rules,” the officer said, requesting anonymity.
The incident comes amid increased scrutiny of social media activity by police personnel deployed on sensitive assignments. Photos and videos recorded during such deployments can potentially expose security arrangements, locations and other operational details.
The suspension highlights the importance of maintaining strict social media discipline among security personnel deployed for high-profile events involving VVIPs and foreign delegates.
