Anonymous Letter Carries Death Threat
According to a letter sent by Paswan’s secretary to the Home Ministry, an unsigned communication containing two mobile phone numbers was received on Tuesday.
The communication reportedly contained a direct threat to the Union minister’s life. The letter stated that Paswan would be killed shortly by “hardcore terrorists.” Paswan’s office has requested that the matter be investigated urgently and that his security arrangements be reviewed in view of the threat. Home Ministry, CRPF Informed
The threat has been formally conveyed to the Union Home Ministry, while Amit Shah has also been informed about the development.
The CRPF and the Bihar government have likewise been alerted. Officials are expected to examine the mobile numbers mentioned in the letter and investigate its origin. At present, there is no official information identifying the person who sent the letter or establishing whether the reference to “hardcore terrorists” corresponds to any specific terrorist organisation.
Chirag Paswan Already Has Z-Plus Security
The latest threat comes despite Paswan being under Z-Plus security protection. The communication sent to the Home Ministry has specifically sought a review of the minister’s security arrangements. The authorities will now assess the credibility of the threat and determine whether additional security measures are required.
Previous Death Threat
This is not the first time Paswan has faced a death threat. In July 2025, ahead of the Bihar Assembly elections, he received a threat through Instagram. His party subsequently filed a complaint with the Cyber Police Station in Patna. The earlier case involved an Instagram account identified in the complaint, while the latest incident involves an anonymous letter containing two mobile numbers.
Investigation Underway
No arrest or identification of the sender has been announced so far. Security agencies are examining the communication as part of the investigation. The immediate focus is expected to be on tracing the source of the letter, verifying the information provided in it and assessing whether the threat poses a credible security risk to the Union minister.
