New Delhi, July 17: In a bizarre incident, a woman attempted to flee with an e-rickshaw after a verbal spat with the driver. The incident took place in Delhi's in Paharganj area on Tuesday. The 40-year-old woman, identified as Renu, was arrested by police after she was caught hold of by bystanders who chased and stopped her, reported The Indian Express.

According to the police, the driver, Abhishek Kumar, was waiting for passengers at the Sadar Thana Road. Renu came and sat beside him, next to the driver's seat, instead of sitting on passengers' seat. Renu later attempted to rob Kumar's e-rickshaw. As Kumar raised an alarm, a few men chased her on bikes and caught her. She was then handed over to the police. Renu has been booked under IPC sections 379 (theft) and 411 (dishonestly receiving stolen property), police said.

"I felt uncomfortable and told her to take the passenger’s seat, but she refused. She started arguing with me. All the seats were vacant. After some time, I got up and told her to leave. Instead, she drove away with my vehicle. I raised an alarm, and some bike-borne men gave chase and eventually caught her," the driver was quoted as saying.
