Mumbai, October 8: Like every year, the festival of Dussehra or Vijayadashami will bring large number of people on the streets to witness Ravan Dahan. This also becomes the cause of massive traffic resulting in route diversion on the streets of Mumbai. The Mumbai Police on Tuesday, on the day of Dussehra 2019, tweeted about the alternative routes and diversions in view of Dussehra Melava or Mela at Shivaji Park in Dadar. The large rally by the Shiv Sena witnesses a sea of people coming from all over Maharashtra to the Shivaji Park in Dadar. The rally is thickly attended and Shiv Sena president Uddhav Thackeray will address the rally. The traffic diversion timing will be in effect from evening 4 pm to 12 midnight. The press note by the Mumbai Police mentions that a large number of vehicles are expected on Western and Eastern Express highway. Hence, the traffic diversions in place. The annual Dussehra Melava is celebrated with great fervour at the Shivaji Park. A large crowd gathers at the Shivaji Park on the occasion. Therefore, the adjoining roads and nearby areas are also full with people.

Dussehra also known as Vijayadashmi is celebrated with large scale festivities across the country. The Hindu festival commemorates the day Lord Rama returned to Ayodhya after killing demon king Ravana. The observance symbolises the victory of good over evil. Dusshera is observed on the tenth day in the month of Ashwin or Kartik as per the Hindu calendar.
