Mumbai, November 5: Petrol and diesel prices in national capital Delhi are Rs 78.56 per litre- a decrease by 22 paise and Rs 73.16 per litre- a decrease by 20 paise, respectively. Petrol and diesel prices in Mumbai are Rs 84.06 per litre- a decrease by 22 paise and Rs 76.67 per litre- a decrease by 21 paise, respectively.

The downward trend in fuel prices continued with the cut in fuel prices. Petrol price has been cut by over Rs 4 per litre and diesel by Rs. 2.33 in the last 18 days on softer international rates, a pace faster than the spike in prices witnessed in the two-month period beginning mid-August. The retail selling price of petrol and diesel is dependent on the international prices of benchmark fuel and the rupee-US dollar exchange rate. This is because a large proportion of country's requirement is met through imports.

Before the decreasing spell, the petrol had hit an all-time high of Rs Rs 84 per litre and diesel was at record Rs 75.45 in Delhi. While in Mumbai petrol was sold at Rs 91.34 and diesel and Rs 80.10 per litre. (With Agency Inputs)
