Ghaziabad, July 23: In the latest development in the Ghaziabad building collapse, three people have been named in the FIR. The Ghaziabad District Magistrate, talking to reporters said, “As the investigation progresses and more names come up, they will be included in FIR and action will be taken against them. Four supervisors have been suspended, a government report has been sent against seven people.” Yesterday, Minister of State (MoS) for External Affairs VK Singh assured strict action against the guilty. The building collapse claimed one life, while several people were injured.

A labourer who was injured during the incident said that a crack had appeared on one of the building columns, but the builder told them to fill it and carry on with their routine work. Ritu Maheshwari, District Magistrate, Ghaziabad said that the material used for constructing the building was of poor quality. The District Magistrate added that the building was being constructed illegally.

On July 23, a five-storey building  collapsed in Ghaziabad, in which one person was dead. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath ordered a probe into the incident. The government also announced Rs 2 lakh as ex-gratia to the family of the victim and Rs 50,000 to each of the injured. In a similar incident last week, two multi-storey buildings collapsed in Greater Noida, in which eight people were killed.
