Srinagar, March 1: In a fierce encounter between the Indian Armed Forces and the terrorists in a gunbattle in Handwara area in the north Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Friday morning, two terrorists were neutralised after a gunbattle. No casualty has been reported from the Indian side, but the officials have stated that the search operation is still underway in the vicinity.

Sources say that the forces received information that terrorist might be hidden in Langate area of the Handwara on Thursday. Soon after that, the area was cordon, and in no time a fierce gunbattle started between Indian Armed Forces and the terrorists. During the hours-long fight between the two parties, two terrorists were neutralised. The bodies of two terrorists have been recovered from Kralgund village of Langate area and searches were underway to sanitise the place. Jammu and Kashmir: Security Forces Exchange Heavy Firing Across LoC in Poonch. 

Contingents of Army's 22 RR, 92 battalions, Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and SOG conducted a cordon-and-search operation at Khanu-Babagund hamlet in Langate Meanwhile, the firing has stopped, and the identity of the terrorists is being inspected. Also, the area is still under control of the armed forces, and movement has been restricted.
