Announcing the acquisition on social media, HarperCollins India described the book as one of the most anticipated political memoirs of contemporary times. The publishing house stated that the work offers "a dramatic and deeply personal story of love, identity, duty and belonging, and offers a rare insider's view of India's journey." The Publishing Controversy
The official release date comes shortly after a public controversy involving Penguin Random House India, which was previously associated with the project. Recent media reports suggested Penguin had withdrawn from publishing the book after Gandhi allegedly declined to accept proposed editorial changes.
Addressing the speculation, Penguin Random House India issued a clarifying statement asserting that it was not the book's publisher. The company disputed claims that the project fell through due to a disagreement over edits, maintaining that it had remained willing to publish the text while carrying out standard fact-checking and editorial review.
