Chandigarh, Sept 21: A divorced woman in Haryana's Ambala orchestrated the abduction of his former husband and the gangrape of his new wife in a bid to extract revenge, the police said on Friday.

The accused, who was divorced out of her five-year-old marriage in December 2017, was jilted by her husband's second wedding. With her extended family members, she planned to coerce the woman into divorcing her ex. Narrating the ordeal before the police, the victim couple said their house was barged into on Thursday evening by men and women who came in two vans. After beating them up, they were pushed into the two seperate vehicles and taken to Panipat, nearly 120-km away from Ambala.

In Panipat, they were brutally assaulted and asked to sign the divorce papers. Since they refused, the man was further beaten up, while the woman was sexually assaulted by two men in one of the vans. They were then dropped near the Panipat bus station.

The victim then approached the police, who launched a manhunt and located the woman and her accomplices in Ambala. They have been arrested and taken into police custody for interrogation.
