Hyderabad Quick-Commerce Stores Already Under Scrutiny
The Hastinapuram incident comes days after Telangana food safety authorities conducted a major inspection drive at 16 quick-commerce dark stores across Hyderabad. During that drive, officials found expired and damaged food products, spoiled vegetables, pest infestation, poor storage conditions and lapses in cold-room temperature maintenance. Four establishments linked to Swiggy Instamart, Flipkart and Zepto had their FSSAI licences suspended and were ordered to stop operations. The food safety department also collected 15 samples from the inspected premises for suspected adulteration, while other outlets received show-cause or improvement notices. The latest Hastinapuram inspection adds to growing scrutiny of food-safety practices at quick-commerce fulfilment centres, where groceries and other food products are stored before being dispatched to customers.
Swiggy Instamart has also faced separate regulatory scrutiny this year. In July, FSSAI issued nine notices following consumer complaints alleging that expired, spoiled, rotten or contaminated food products had been supplied through the platform.
