New Delhi, February 28: In the joint press briefing by the three military wings on Thursday, evidence was shared to expose Pakistan's lies on the use of F-16 fighter jets during the aerial engagement with the Indian Air Force (IAF). Representatives of the Army, Navy and IAF told the press that they are fully prepared to confront any form of aggression from Pakistan.

A day earlier, Islamabad had rejected New Delhi's charge of shooting down an F-16 used by the Pakistan Air Force (PAF). The top warplane, said their military spokesperson Major General Asif Ghafoor, "was not used" in the engagement with the IAF.

His lies were nailed by the Indian forces as they shared before the media pieces of Amraam missile -- used exclusively by the F-16 planes to strike targets -- shot down during the confrontation with the PAF.

"There is enough evidence to show that F-16s were used in this mission through their electronic signatures. Parts of AMRAAM, air to air missile which is carried only on the Pakistani F-16s was recovered east of Rajouri within the Indian territory," Air Vice Marshal RGK Kapoor said.

On being asked on the casualties sustained by Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) in the pre-emptive strikes carried out by the IAF on Tuesday, the Air Vice Marshal said they have "inflicted the intended damage", but the exact number of casualties is yet to be known.

"We have evidence to show that whatever we wanted to do and targets we wanted to destroy, we have done that. Decision to show the evidence is on senior leadership," he added.

'Looking Forward To Have Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman Back'

The armed forces said that Pakistan's gesture to release Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman is in accordance with the Geneva Conventions.

"We are happy that our pilot who had fallen across the Line of Control and was in custody of Pakistan is being released, we're extremely happy to have him back. We only see it as a gesture which is in consonance with all Geneva conventions," the Air Vice Marshal added.
