New Delhi, June 2: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Member of Parliament Sakshi Maharaj on Sunday made a scathing attack on West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. The MP from Unnao said that Banerjee "belongs to the family of demon king Hirankashyap," an ancient ruler who put his son behind the bars for believing in God. Mamata Banerjee Clarifies On 'Jai Sri Ram' Slogan, Says 'BJP Mixing Religion, Politics To Sell Hatred'.

"As we talk of West Bengal, I remember the demon king Hirankashyap who had put his son behind bars and tortured him for saying 'Jai Shri Ram'. This is being repeated in Bengal and it seems that Mamata Banerjee belongs to the family of demon Hirankashyap as she put all those behind bars who say 'Jai Shri Ram'," said Sakshi Maharaj. Mamata Banerjee Arresting Those Who Are Chanting 'Jai Shri Ram', Says PM Narendra Modi.

"She gets irritated, put people behind bars, abuse them and conspires against those who say 'Jai Shri Ram", he said. This comes after the Bengal CM criticised the ruling party and said that the 'Jai Shri Ram' slogan is used in a "misconceived manner".

On May 30, Banerjee reprimanded some people for chanting 'Jai Shri Ram' said that they are "BJP people and criminals from outside the state." Later, the BJP West Bengal President Dilip Ghosh slammed Banerjee and said she has completely loss mind.
