Srinagar, August 26: A person died after his truck was pelted with stones in Bijbehara area of Anantnag district, the Jammu and Kashmir Police said on Monday. The deceased was identified as Noor Mohammed, a resident of Zradipora Urnhall. A case has been registered at the Bijbehara police station. An alleged stone pelter, whose identity hasn't be revealed, was also arrested.

In a series of tweets, the Jammu and Kashmir Police informed that a group of stone-pelters targetted Noor Mohammed's truck at Bijbehara thinking the vehicle was of security forces. "The stone pierced the pane and injured driver in head," the police said. Mohammed was rushed to a local hospital from where he was referred to Sher - i - Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences hospital in Soura. Jammu and Kashmir: Seven Killed as Vehicle Falls into Gorge in Rajouri.

"He, however, succumbed to his injuries and was declared brought dead. The stone pelter has been identified and arrested," the police said. In another tweet, the police said a girl was seriously injured in a stone-pelting incident in downtown Srinagar a few days back.
