Lucknow, October 5: In a shocking incident, a 65-year-old jeweller identified as Kishorilal Soni was abducted in Lucknow on September 28 while he was returning from his shop. According to a tweet by ANI, Soni was kidnapped and taken to Nepal where he has been placed under police custody in connection with an alleged theft that took place during his daughter's marriage in Nepal in the year 2004.

Reports inform that during the investigation, a CCTV footage of incident emerged where two men are seen dragging Soni from his bike and pushing him inside the car that is parked on the street. Meanwhile, Soni 's family received calls from Nepal, stating he was being placed under police custody. The SSP of Lucknow said on September 29, a case was registered u/s 364 IPC (Kidnapping or abducting in order to murder) in Madiyava PS. Uttar Pradesh: AAP Leader Naveen Das Body Found Charred in Ghaziabad. 

In the wake of the incident, Vikas Soni, son of the kidnapped jeweller has written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Home Minister Rajnath Singh and EAM Sushma Swaraj urging for an impartial probe by higher officials in the case.

The SSP added saying that as per Nepal police, in 2004, his daughter was married in Nepal and in the same year, there was an incident of theft that took place at Nepal's Newdeep Jewellers. "Soni has been taken into custody in connection with that. We're in touch with Nepal Embassy&conducting detailed investigation", the SSP added.
