Bhopal, April 25: A farmer committed suicide allegedly after he failed to repay the loan he had taken for his daughter's marriage. The incident took place in Madhya Pradesh Chhindwara, the home constituency of Chief Minister Kamal Nath. The farmer, identified as Akadu Uike, had borrowed Rs 9,000 from a local moneylender. Uike belonged to Meghasiwni village in Chhindwara.

Uike's wife Sakalbati said that they had suffered crop failure for the last four years. She said even though the moneylender had not asked them about the loan, Uike was upset as he was unable to repay it. "I was okay with the loan. We have a son, he is smart, studies well. I thought the loan will be repaid eventually. The moneylender had not also asked me to pay anything yet," she told NDTV. Madhya Pradesh: Farmer Ineligible For Loan-Waiver Commits Suicide in Khandwa.
