Congress leader and Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, extended his support on Sunday to students and job aspirants protesting in Maharashtra against paper leaks and recruitment delays. Attacking the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led government, Gandhi alleged that systemic failures and frequent exam irregularities have severely undermined the trust of the country's youth.
His remarks follow ongoing agitation by aspirants over the Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC) examination irregularities, including the cancellation of the Drug Inspector Group-B screening exam after a police inquiry revealed paper leak malpractices. High-Level Committee Formed Amid Protests
The Maharashtra state government announced the formation of a high-level committee to conduct a comprehensive review of the state's recruitment examination ecosystem. The panel aims to overhaul the entire exam workflow—from confidential paper preparation and secure handling to exam center security, technology integration, and grievance redressal—to make testing transparent and candidate-friendly.
The move comes after persistent demonstrations across the state, including hunger strikes by tribal students and job seekers highlighting hostel facility deficiencies, candidate safety, and repeated question paper leaks.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Rahul Gandhi stated, "Students' trust has been shattered by a system that fails to protect their future. From paper leaks and stalled recruitments to rising education costs, BJP-led governments have turned young lives into a series of compromises. The government must listen to their voice and act immediately — otherwise, this 'Chhatron ki Goonj' will only grow louder until justice is served."
He further alleged that political interference has compromised constitutional bodies like the MPSC, eroding their credibility among youth who spend years preparing for competitive public services.
Cancellation of MPSC Drug Inspector Exam
The immediate flashpoint follows action taken by the MPSC regarding the Drug Inspector Group-B recruitment exam conducted in March. Following a preliminary police inquiry revealing that at least one candidate had unlawfully accessed the question paper prior to the examination, the commission cancelled the entire selection process. Six individuals, including three MPSC officials, have been arrested by law enforcement agencies in connection with the paper leak case.
