Mumbai, July 25: The Maratha Quota stir in Mumbai spread to Navi Mumbai and Vashi area on Wednesday. According to a tweet by ANI, the protesters pelted stones on two Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) buses near Navi Mumbai's Ghansoli on Wednesday morning. The bandh is being observed in Thane, Navi Mumbai and Raigad, however, no schools and colleges will be included in it.

Meanwhile, BEST bus services from Airoli to Vashi have been completely stopped today in the light of Maharashtra bandh. The Maratha outfits have called for a state-wide bandh in Maharashtra following the death of a 27-year-old man while demanding for reservations for his community.

The death of the youth has triggered fresh protests in several parts of the state. The deceased was identified as Kalasaheb Shinde who was a part of the Maratha Kranti Morcha. Maratha Kranti Morcha organisers meet on Tuesday for Mumbai bandh tomorrow at Shivaji Mandir in Mumbai's Dadar.

Amid ongoing protests in Maharashtra over Maratha Reservation, Maratha Kranti Samaj called for a 'peaceful' bandh on Wednesday. Local train services have been running normally so far.  "We will observe a peaceful bandh tomorrow. Thane, Navi Mumbai, Raigad to be bandh tomorrow. Schools and colleges will not be included in this bandh as we do not intend to trouble anyone," Maratha Kranti Samaj toldANI.
