Mumbai, November 19: In a shocking incident of crime from the city, police have found that the 14-year-old girl who went missing from Kandivali almost a month ago, was molested and murdered by her neighbour. According to a Times of India report, her dead body was packed in a bag was carried on a bike for 90 km to Talasari and set on fire.

The girl was a class 9 student and the accused runs a shoe cleaning service. After the girl went missing on October 1, her parents lodged a kidnapping complaint. Police in their due course of the investigation, probed the accused, and he turned up every time, the police called him, thus leaving no room for suspicion. Later, however, he admitted to the crime, when pressurised by the police. He had called the girl to his residence on October 1 and tried to grope her. She started screaming to make others alert, it was then, he hit her head with a bottle and then he strangled her. After she died, he packed her body in a bag and then rode to Talasari, when he set her body on fire. Local police found her partially charred body on October 3. The accused was booked under the stringent POCSO Act.
