Noida, July 17: In a tragic incident, two buildings have collapsed in Shah Beri village under Bisrakh police station limits. According to reports, several people mostly labourers are feared trapped under the debris. Police and rescue teams have rushed to the spot. The Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has taken cognisance of the incident. Yogi has asked the District Magistrate to take up relief measures with National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) team and Police to ensure immediate rescue.
Greater Noida authorities had acquired land in Shah Beri. Villagers protested against the acquisition and moved court against this. The Supreme Court later cancelled the acquisition. After the apex court’s ruling, builders had to change the location of their projects. The state government In January ordered a fast-track probe against as many as 27 serving and former Greater Noida Industrial Development Authorit officials for their role in an alleged land scam in 2008.
As per media reports, even after the court’s ruling several illegal buildings have been constructed in the area. The land has been grabbed from the farmers to build multi-storey buildings. The buildings collapsed on Tuesday night has also been built on the unauthorised land. Safety norms have not been followed in construction of the buildings.
