Odisha: Sexually Abused Teen Student Gives Birth to Baby Girl in Tribal School Hostel

Daringbadi, January 13: In a shocking incident from Odisha, a teen student from a tribal residential school in Daringbadi area of Kandhamal district on Saturday night delivered a baby girl in her hostel. This incident prompted school authorities to suspend six employees. According to reports, the class eight girl was thrown out with her baby and had to seek shelter in the nearby jungle. Later, on Sunday morning, the duo were traced by local police and admitted to the nearby hospital. Majhi also asked district collector to start a probe into a matter and share a detail report of the circumstance. "The government has taken a serious view of the incident," Majhi said in Bhubaneswar. The Seva Ashram High School is run by the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes development department of Odisha.

District Collector D Brunda said two cook-cum-attendants, two housekeepers, a lady supervisor and an assistant midwife of the institute were suspended on the charges of negligence. The government has also recommended suspension of the school headmistress on the same charges. Meanwhile, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Congress has targeted state government for carelessness.
