Demonstrations and Counter-Slogans Outside Parliament

Ahead of the day's sitting, Congress MPs, led by party general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, held a demonstration near the Makar Dwar inside the Parliament House complex. Demonstrators carried placards and demanded an apology from Union Home Minister Amit Shah over alleged police force used against student protesters during the July 20 'Sansad Chalo' agitation in Delhi.

Members of the ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA) countered the demonstration by chanting supportive slogans for former Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan as he arrived at the premises. Pradhan recently stepped down from his portfolio following widespread student protests over entrance exam irregularities.

Both Houses Adjourned Amid Opposition Ruckus

Inside both the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha, persistent slogan-shouting and notices for adjournment forced repeated suspensions of business during the morning hours. Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla issued warnings to members against disrupting proceedings before adjourning the House.

Political sparring deepened as BJP MP Nishikant Dubey stated that the ruling party would seek to move a proposal regarding Rahul Gandhi’s status as Leader of the Opposition, calling for a Special Investigation Team (SIT) probe into his foreign visits. Simultaneously, senior Opposition leaders held a strategy meeting at the Leader of the Opposition’s office in the Rajya Sabha to coordinate their stance for the remainder of the session.
