The Uttar Pradesh Police have registered a case against a social media influencer and two of her associates following allegations of a honey-trapping and extortion racket in Sambhal. The complainant claims the group obtained his private photographs and videos to threaten him into paying large sums of money. The social media influencer has over one lakh followers on Instagram.

Allegations of Extortion

The complainant, Mohammad Shahrukh, a resident of Chaudhary Sarai, alleged that he first became acquainted with the influencer, identified as Arisha, approximately three years ago during a visit to Nainital. According to the complaint, their initial Instagram interaction evolved into a personal relationship. Uttar Pradesh: Man Slits Wife’s Throat 7 Months After Marriage Following Dispute in Bulandshahr, Arrested.

Shahrukh alleges that during this time, the accused obtained intimate photographs and videos of him. He claims that Arisha, along with two associates named Anas and Shoaib, subsequently used this content to blackmail him, threatening to leak the material on social media and implicate him in false criminal cases. The complainant further stated that he has already paid nearly INR 4 lakh to the accused over time. He noted that the group specifically extorted INR 55,000 previously and recently demanded an additional INR 2 lakh. Shahrukh has reportedly submitted transaction screenshots and chat logs to the police as evidence.

Previous Settlement Cited

According to the FIR, the two parties had previously attempted to resolve the matter. On July 1, 2023, a settlement was reportedly executed on stamp paper, in which Arisha allegedly admitted that prior accusations made against Shahrukh were unfounded. However, the complainant alleges that the blackmail resumed shortly thereafter. Shahrukh further claims that since the registration of the FIR, he has continued to receive abusive messages and threats, and that the accused have posted defamatory content about him on social media. He has also alleged that the accused are part of a larger organised racket targeting men for extortion through honey-trapping, though these claims remain subject to police verification. Etah Road Accident: 4 Dead, 11 Injured As Canter Rams Stationary Bus in Uttar Pradesh (Watch Video).

Police Investigation Underway

"A man approached the police alleging that a woman and a few others were blackmailing him and demanding money. An FIR has been registered on the basis of his complaint. The allegations are being investigated, and further legal action will be taken on the basis of evidence," said local police officer Sudhir Panwar. Police officials stated that efforts are currently underway to trace Arisha, Anas, and Shoaib. The investigation team is in the process of verifying the evidence submitted by the complainant and assessing the roles of all individuals named in the FIR before determining subsequent legal steps.
