Shimla, September 5: Shimla District and Sessions Court awarded death penalty to convicts Chander Sharma, Vikrant Bakshi and Tejinder Singh in the murder case of a four-year-old boy in 2014 in Ram Bazar area. Judge Virender Singh pronounced the death sentence to the three men who had tortured the four-year-old boy badly before killing him.

All the three men were held guilty on August 6 under Section 302, 201,347 and 364 of the IPC. The sections are for charges of murder, disappearance, wrongful confinement to extort property and kidnapping.

According to a report in the English daily The Tribune, the boy was kidnapped by his neighbour named Chander. Chander, the boy's neighbour, lured the 4-year-old kid by offering him choclates. The kid was first taken to Tajender's godown which was situated above Yug's house. Later, the boy was moved to Chander's house located at Ram Mandir Chowk in Tajinder's SUV.

The report mentions that Yug's clothes were burnt so that no evidence could be found by the police. The FIR says that the 4-year-old was tortured badly and had to be without clothes and was forced to consume liquor. All this was done to the boy even before the extortion call was made to the boy's parents.

The child's skeleton was recovered from a water tank in Keleston area. The incident caused such an outrage that people came out in large numbers to protest in front of the Vidhan Sabha and walked till the High Court demanding justice.
