Bhopal, June 15: After being trolled on social media for not going ahead with 'samadhi' after the defeat of Indian National Congress leader and former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Digvijaya Singh as promised, Swami Vairagyanand has submitted an application to Bhopal collector seeking permission to immolate himself on June 16, Sunday. In 2019 General Elections, Singh lost to Bharatiya Janata Party's Pragya Singh Thakur by a margin of nearly 3.60 lakh votes. During the election campaigning, Swami Vairagyanand predicted a win for Congress candidate and also performed a hawan for his victory. After Singh was defeated, Swami Vairagyanand was widely trolled on Facebook, Whatsapp and Twitter for his false prediction. Pragya Thakur of BJP Wins Parliamentary Election.

According to Hindustan times, Vairagyanand in his application stated, "While organising a yajna hawan for the victory of Digvijaya Singh I had resolved that if Digvijaya Singh faces a defeat I will undertake a Samadhi in a hawankund (holy fire)."

“I am presently staying at Kamakhyadham and wish to undergo a Samadhi at 2.11 O’clock on June 16 to fulfil my resolve. I am confident that administration will completely cooperate with me to respect to my religious sentiments and accord sanction (to my application) while deciding a place for the same,” he said in his application.

Meanwhile, Collector Tarun Kumar Pithode wrote a letter to DIG, Bhopal that such permission could not be given and necessary actions would be taken to save the life of the applicant.
