New Delhi, November 9: A senior manager of Tata Steel unit in Faridabad was shot dead by the company's former employee on Friday. The deceased, identified as Arindam Pal, was fired upon from a close range at least five times, the police said.

The murder was reported during the day, when the accused, Vishwas Pandey, came to the warehouse and told the security guards that he needed to settle his financial dues. He straightaway walked inside the cabin and shot at the senior manager, the company's staff claimed. Delhi: Man Gets Life Term for Killing Live-In Partner’s Three-Year-Old Daughter.

As panic gripped the workplace following Pal's murder, Pandey escaped from the warehouse from its rear gate.

The employees subsequently rushed Pal to a nearby hospital, where he was declared dead. Mujesar Station House Officer, under whose jurisdiction the site of crime falls, said the doctors recovered five bullets from the body of Pal. "He had died on the way to the hospital. We are awaiting the post-mortem report," the SHO said.

The police further said that a search operation has been launched to nab Pandey. A preliminary investigation has revealed that he was miffed with Pal as he laid off by the company nearly five months ago. "He committed the murder as an act of retribution," said a police official privy to the probe so far.

The Tata Steel warehouse where the crime occurred is located at Bata Chowk, nearly 10 kilometres away from the city's border with the national capital.
