New Delhi, June 15: Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, popularly called as KCR, is known for his strong belief in Hindu religious rituals. The TRS chief is planning a "yagam" (havan) on the inauguration of long-awaited Kaleshwaram lift irrigation project. The project in Godavari river at Jayashankar Bhoopalpalli district will be unveiled on June 21. Telangana Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project Launch on June 21.

KCR has invited two CMs- YS Jagan Mohan Reddy of Andhra Pradesh and Devendra Fadnavis of Maharashtra. Governors of Maharastra Chennamaneni Vidyasagar Rao and Andra Pradesh and Telangana ELS Narasimhan are also invited along with several VVIP guests. The arrangements for the inauguration of the Godavari river project, the costliest and biggest lift irrigation scheme were in full swing. The cost of the project is estimated to be over Rs one lakh crore. According to Hindustan Times sources, Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) supremo will perform two massive "Yagam", first at Medigadda and other at Kannepalli pump house.

The Yagam named 'Jala Sankalpa', a ritual that invokes the rain god Lord Varuna to bless the state with generous crops in the coming years. The havan would be conducted by Sringeri Mutt, Gopi Krishna Sharma and Phani Shashanka Sharma, reported Hindustan Times.

After his victory in Assembly elections last year, KCR performed 'Maha Rudhra Sahitha Sahasra Maha Chandi Yagam’ at his farmhouse in Siddipet district's Erravelli village. In 2015, more than 2,500 priests took part in KCR's massive ‘Ayutha Maha Chandi Yagam’ that continued for 5 days.
