Lucknow, Sep 29: The Bharatiya Janata Party on Saturday held former Uttar Pradesh chief minister and Samajwadi Party leader Akhilesh Yadav responsible for the killing of Apple India executive Vivek Tiwari. BJP Spokesperson Rakesh Tripathi said 'caste-based' recruitment of police officer by the previous Akhilesh-led government led to the death of Vivek Tiwari.

“I don’t want to get into politics at the moment, but this is a result of the police recruitment that was done by the Samajwadi Party government on the basis of caste. The recruitment during the regime of Mulayam Singh Yadav and Akhilesh Yadav was controversial and only people from a certain caste were recruited,” Tripathi was quoted as saying by News18Apple Employee Killing by UP Police: Accused Cop Plays Victim; Demands Registration Of FIR.

The BJP spokesperson added that chief minister Yogi Adityanath-led government would not only punish the culprits but also set an example so that no such incident takes place in future. Reacting to the BJP's charge, the Samajwadi Party hit back and said the BJP is politicising the death of a common man.

“BJP has lost its mind, and it is now dragging Samajwadi Party into this murder. They should be ashamed of politicising the murder of a common man who is survived by his wife and two young daughters,” a spokesperson of the opposition party said. The Congress also accused the BJP of running an 'encounter raj' in Uttar Pradesh.
