Mysore, May 10: The Meteorological Centre, Bengaluru, has issued an alert for a cyclonic circulation poised to affect 23 districts across Karnataka. South Kerala is also on the path of an impending storm triggered by cyclonic circulation. Earlier, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a yellow alert for Bengaluru until May 13.  A yellow alert indicates that the city will receive heavy rainfall. As per the short-term forecast, the rainfall could be accompanied by gusty winds. Weather Forecast for Karnataka for 5 Days

  • Friday, May 10: Heavy rainfall and thunderstorms, with gusty winds reaching 40-50 kmph, are forecasted for Chikmagalur, Mysore, Kodagu, and Hassan districts. Bangalore Rural, Bangalore City, and Shimoga are expected to experience moderate showers.
  • Saturday, May 11: Kodagu, Chikkamagaluru, and Shimoga districts face heavy downpours and wind gusts up to 50 kmph. Uttara Kannada, Udupi, and Dakshina Kannada coastal districts are also predicted to receive substantial rainfall.
  • Sunday, May 12: Vijayapur, Kalaburgi, Bidar, and other districts will likely encounter heavy rains and thunderstorms accompanied by strong winds. Coastal regions are again expected to be hit with heavy showers.
  • Monday, May 13: A continuation of severe weather is likely, with heavy rains anticipated in Kodagu, Chikkamagaluru, Mysore, and other districts, alongside gusty winds. The coastal districts will also see significant rainfall.
  • Tuesday, May 14: The forecast predicts moderate rain and thunderstorms across many districts, with 40-50 kmph wind speeds. Coastal areas may experience lighter rainfall.

Residents in the affected areas are advised to exercise caution and stay informed on the latest weather updates. Authorities are on alert to respond to emergencies arising from the adverse conditions.
