New Delhi, April 17: On the recommendations of the Ministry of Home Affairs, the Delhi Lieutenant Governor's office on Tuesday ordered the sacking of 9 advisors to the state government.

The advisors were appointed to the Ministers in the Aam Aadmi Party government, including Deputy CM Manish Sisodia. The reason cited for their sacking is the non-adherence of appointment rules by CM Arvind Kejriwal.

The BJP, which is the prime opposition to the AAP in Delhi, said the action was taken by Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal as per the constitutional duty assigned to him.

"There is no vendetta against the state government. The advisors were illegally appointed. As per the norms, Mr Kejriwal should had sought the approval of the LG for their appointment. But being the anarchist that he is, what else could we expect," said BJP spokesperson R P Singh.

The AAP, however, struck back, calling it another ploy by the Centre to obstruct the functioning of the Delhi government.

"What the LG is doing is not surprising. They always try to victimise us. Recently, you saw how the Delhi High Court overturned the suspension of our 21 MLAs. Again they have attempted to malign the image of our party, but people of delhi know the truth," said party spokesperson Richa Pandey.

According to experts, Kejriwal could not be left with much legal recourse in the case as "Services in the National Capital Region" come under the domain of the LG. Without his prior sanctions, the appointments could be deemed null and void.
