Daman, November 2: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)'s Daman & Diu union territory chief Gopal Tandel has been subjected to a major embarrassment. The politician has purportedly being caught in a honey trap, with an obscene sex video featuring him going viral on social media. The clip is circulating on WhatsApp and other social media apps since the last two days. Tandel, who is yet to register a complaint, has offered to resign from the post. Tandel, according to reports, has been targeted by a honey trap gang which has also picked upon other influential personalities. The similar modus operandi was used in targeting Surat Congress leader Dinesh Kachhadiya. However, it could not be confirmed whether the same set of accused have targeted Tandel.

Tandel, a former two-time Lok Sabha MP from Daman & Diu Union Territory, switched off his mobile phone after the obscene video went viral. Issuing a statement earlier today, Tandel said his image is being tarnished through a conspiracy.

"My image has been morphed into the video. Local politicians have conspired against me to end my political career," he said, adding that the clip is fake and he has decided to resign to avoid bringing disrepute to the party. Notably, Tandel's political career stretches to nearly four decades, with him first being elected to the Lok Sabha in 1987, followed by 1996. He was earlier associated with the Congress and the NCP.
